Kani Payments has been named in BusinessCloud’s FinTech 50 ranking for 2025, placing 17th in the annual list celebrating the UK’s most innovative technology companies transforming finance and payments.
The ranking is determined by a combination of reader votes and an expert judging panel, drawn from across the UK fintech ecosystem. This year’s list recognises 50 startups, scaleups and established firms building original technology for the financial services sector.
Kani was selected for its specialist payment reconciliation and reporting platform, purpose-built for payments and fintech companies operating in complex, high-volume, multi-processor environments. The platform automates card scheme reporting, operational and regulatory reconciliation, and transforms fragmented financial data into structured, audit-ready outputs.
The recognition follows a landmark year for Kani. In 2025, the company was awarded Payments Compliance Technology of the Year and FinTech of the Year, alongside securing a multi-million-pound Series A investment to accelerate product development and international growth.
Aaron Holmes, CEO of Kani Payments, said:
“This recognition reflects the work our team has done to solve one of the most persistent problems in fintech—turning complex payments data into something finance teams can trust. Reconciliation and reporting have historically been manual, fragmented and high-risk. We’ve built Kani to change that, embedding control, structure and audit confidence into the core of payments operations.”
The FinTech 50–supported by S&W–celebrates businesses of all sizes creating technology to serve financial institutions, merchants and consumers. BusinessCloud called on readers to vote from a 169-strong shortlist, with final rankings decided through a combination of public votes and panel selection
The judging panel included Janine Hirt (CEO, Innovate Finance), Joe Roche (General Manager, FinTech North), Helene Panzarino (Associate Director, Centre for Digital Banking and Finance), Gary Fenemore (Tax Director, S&W) and Jonathan Symcox (Editor, BusinessCloud).
Jonathan Symcox, editor of BusinessCloud, said the 2025 cohort represents “a melting pot of companies serving everything from financial industry giants to individuals looking for help with their personal finance… It is our pleasure to shine a light on 50 amazing innovators from all corners of the UK.”
